Alan B. Cardenas is Head of Corporate Legal for Siemens Energy, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of a $30 Billion global business focused on energy generation, transmission, industrial applications, electrification, alternative energy and related technologies and services. Upon spinoff from Siemens in September 2020, Siemens Energy became a Fortune Global 500 company with 91,000 employees worldwide. 

In his role, Alan serves as the chief U.S. lawyer presiding over Corporate Legal functions for Siemens Energy, which include: Governance, Regulatory, Government Affairs, Export Controls/International Trade, Marketing & Communications, Legal Operations, Supply Chain Management & Procurement, Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and Real Estate.

In his prior roles at Siemens, Alan has served as the lead U.S. attorney for Global Business Services, Supply Chain Management, Internal Reorganizations, Marketing & Communications, Export Controls & Customs, Sanctions, Commercial Antitrust, Government Affairs and Corporate Philanthropy efforts, in addition to support on Governance and Corporate topics 

Earlier at Siemens, Alan was lead U.S. Securities lawyer, lead lawyer for Venture Capital in the Americas and co-lead lawyer for M&A in Canada and Latin America. Prior to his 12 years at Siemens, Alan was with Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath (Princeton, NJ) and Debevoise & Plimpton (New York, NY).

Alan is a frequent speaker on topics of leadership, international business, digital transformation and diversity, inclusion & equity. Alan has been (i) a prior participant in the Minority Corporate Counsel Association In-House Counsel Leadership Summit (2020, 2018), (ii) a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) PODER25 Program since its inception, (iii) twice featured in Hispanic Executive Magazine (October 2019 and January/February 2018) on topics of Cultural Intelligence and Disruptive Technologies in the Law, (iv) named a recipient of a Siemens U.S. CEO Excellence Award (November 2016), and (v) named one of the Top Hispanic Lawyers Under 40 by the HNBA (February 2015). 

Alan was also a senior member of the global in-house legal team recognized by the London-based International Law Office publication as the 2013 Global In-House Counsel M&A Team of the Year and served as lead Siemens lawyer in its distressed acquisition of HearUSA, Inc., named as the 2012 Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year (Middle Market) by The M&A Advisor at its 6thAnnual Turnaround Awards.

Alan currently serves on the Alumni Steering Committee for the Rutgers Center for Corporate Law and Governance and on the Board of Trustees of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ). Previously, Alan served on the HBA-NJ Board and as an executive officer.
