Staff Attorney- Child Welfare/Prevention Representation
Legal Services of New Jersey, an Edison-based statewide non-profit that provides free civil legal assistance to low income New Jerseyans, has an immediate opening for a staff attorney as part of its Family Representation Project. This unit provides preventative legal representation and social work advocacy to families and children involved in the child welfare system. The attorney will assist families with their child welfare case which may include custody, divorce, orders of protection, safe and affordable housing, public benefits, guardianship, special education, and other issues that help prevent child and parent separation and extended stays in foster care.
The attorney should have experience working with low-income and vulnerable populations of diverse ethnicities and nationalities. The strongest candidates will have several years of experience in child welfare litigation.
