Deputies assigned to the State Police, Employment and Corrections (“SPEC”) section practice in the U.S. District Court, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, N.J. Superior Court, N.J. Appellate Division, OAL, Government Records Council and the EEOC. SPEC provides primary representation to the N.J. State Police, Department of Corrections, Parole Board and the Juvenile Justice Commission. Individual and class action civil rights claims include matters such as excessive force, fatal shootings, wrongful arrest, conditions of confinement, religious, medical and legal access and ADA violations. Deputies hone their written advocacy skills through a significant appellate practice, with opportunities to argue in the Appellate Division. Trial skills are sharpened in defense of employment claims brought against State agencies, with opportunities to try cases in State and Federal court.  All items must be submitted together, in one package, on or before the closing date of January 1, 2022.
