Kathy I. Oviedo Esq.

Acting Treasurer

Kathy I. Oviedo, Esq. serves an Assistant Prosecutor at the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.  Kathy is assigned to the Trial Unit, where she is responsible for litigating various types of criminal matters.  She has successfully tried several jury trials, including homicides, weapons and drug offenses.  

Prior to joining the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Kathy served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Wendel E. Daniels, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Part in Ocean County, Superior Court of New Jersey.  She earned her Juris Doctorate from Rutgers School of Law-Newark, where she was a Managing Editor of the Rutgers Race and the Law Review and President of the Student Publishing Initiative.  While in law school, Kathy interned for the Honorable Michael A. Shipp, United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey and was a student clinical associate in the Urban Legal Clinic, where she represented clients on civil litigation matters, including Social Security Disability Benefits.  Kathy received the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Scholarship and won first place in the 2012 Phi Alpha Delta Mock Trial Competition.

Kathy is a mentor for the HBA-NJ’s American Dream Pipeline Mentorship Program at Passaic High School and is part of the Women’s Empowerment Law and Leadership Conference Committee.  She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York.
